Photo Facial (Photo rejuvenation)
Photo Facials lead to restoration of even-toned, smoother skin
What is Photo Rejuvenation?
Photo
Rejuvenation is a series of intense light pulses that are
absorbed by abnormally enlarged vessels or pigmentation
as they make way through the skin's surface. The heat of
the light pulses weakens the enlarged vessels or lesions
which triggers normal healing progression. Lesions can form
and will darken before being absorbed by the body or flaking
off. This process causes no damage to the skin. Photo Rejuvenation
leads to restoration of even toned, smoother skin.
Who should consider Photo Rejuvenation?
If you are suffering from:
- Rosacea
- Flushing
- Age spots
- Sun damaged skin
- Photo Aging
- Mild acne scars
- Large Pores
- Dark Circles around the eyes
- Fine lines
Photo Facial Treatment
The area to be treated is prepared by cleansing and applying
a cool gel. If desired, a topical anesthetic can be applied
to the treatment area to minimize any discomfort. The pulses
of light are then distributed to the treatment area varying
from 15 to 45 minutes. At the completion of the treatment,
the gel is removed from the skin and purified. A cool compress
may be applied to the area after treatment to sooth sensitive
skin. Daily activities can be resumed immediately following
a Photo Rejuvenation treatment.
Frequency of Treatment
The number of treatments required varies from patient to
patient. Significant improvements may be seen after 2 to
3 treatments, however, 5 treatments are normally recommended
for best possible results. Patients achieve a high level
of satisfaction following treatment recommendations seeing
from 70% to 90 % improvement toward more even toned, smoother
skin.
Are there side effects from Photo Facials?
Although side effects are rare it is recommended that prior
to photo rejuvenation, exposure to the sun be reduced several
weeks before and after treatment. Treatment can effect capillaries
making them more visible, pigmentation may appear darker
and the skin may look flushed. These side effects would
be visible directly following treatment. Temporary swelling
and/or blistering may occur but is very rare.
Photo Rejuvenation and Rosacea
Rosacea is a skin condition which causes redness and flushing of the skin.
Common Causes of Rosacea:
- Exposure to the sun
- Alcohol consumption
- Aging
- Stress
- Medication
Photo Rejuvenation treatment reduces the flushed appearance
of the skin which minimizes the necessity for antibiotics
and cortisone creams.
